COVID-19 – Are you ready for the reopening?

Across the country, states are loosening their Covid-19 restrictions and moving towards reopening businesses, parks, and churches.

Restaurants are gradually allowing people back in to eat.

Some gyms are open.

You can even get a haircut!

But each state is opening at a different rate with different requirements, and there doesn’t seem to be a great deal of consistency.  While that may work for each state, the impact for people across the country is that they don’t know what to do.

Is it safe to go into a restaurant to eat?

Why can I get my nails done but I can’t go to the gym?

Does singing at church put me at risk?

Instead of being overwhelmed by these differences and inconsistencies, it is possible to take a measured approach that helps you be in charge.  Here are some helpful tips!

1. Ask yourself how YOU feel about going into a restaurant to eat or going to the gym to work out?  If you are not ready, then be okay with not being ready and ask others to respect your decision.

2. Decide ahead of time what you feel like doing so that when friends ask you to get together, you don’t have to choose at the moment.  If you are comfortable going over to someone’s house, then go confidently, especially if your decision is based upon what you feel is wisest.

3. Respect others as they make decisions different than yours.  Re-entering or not re-entering the broader community is your choice, and that’s true for everyone else.  Display the respect you desire from others when you interact.  Your peaceful, level-headedness will help everyone.

Of course, none of this is easy, and finding a compassionate, objective listener is always helpful.
